GYEDC Unveils Bold New Brand Identity in Strategic Revamp

New Brand Identity

The Greater Yuma Economic Development Corporation (GYEDC) has launched a bold new visual and messaging identity, signaling a strategic leap forward in how the organization promotes the region to national and global audiences. Developed in partnership with Imaginary Friends design studios, the refreshed brand includes a reimagined logo and an expansive brand standards guide aimed at solidifying Yuma County’s position as a premier destination for business growth and investment.

A Vision Years in the Making
The rebranding effort began in 2023, when GYEDC welcomed Lyndsay Wisneski as its new Chief Marketing Officer. At the time, the organization had no defined brand—only a standalone logo and a font. “I knew that to effectively market the Greater Yuma region and compete on a national and global scale, we needed a cohesive identity that reflected our strengths and aspirations,” Wisneski said. “Over the past year, working alongside the incredibly talented team at Imaginary Friends and collaborating closely with our CEO, Greg LaVann, we developed a brand system that not only looks professional and modern but tells a clear, consistent story about who we are.”

The project took over a year to complete and reflects extensive collaboration, creative development, and alignment with the organization’s mission: to attract new businesses, support existing industry, and highlight the unique economic assets of the Greater Yuma region.

Inspired by the Region
The redesigned logo is available in two color treatments, each symbolic of Yuma’s geography and economic strengths.

Desert Oasis Blue evokes the Colorado River, water-driven agriculture, and binational commerce.

Sonoran Sunset Orange represents sunshine, open skies, and innovation—especially in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and technology sectors.

The complete brand kit provides a modern framework for communication. It features a versatile color palette, bold typography using Poppins and Open Sans fonts, and adaptable logo configurations for varied formats. The visual system is paired with fresh imagery guidelines and an approachable, professional brand voice—ensuring consistency across everything from investor presentations to community outreach.

More Than a Makeover
GYEDC President & CEO Greg LaVann emphasized the strategic importance of the update:

“This rebrand is more than a visual update. It’s a tool that will help us build trust with site selectors, attract new investment, and proudly represent the dynamic future of Yuma County.”

Jon Perry, CEO of Imaginary Friends, echoed the sentiment and spoke to the process of crafting the brand.

“Working with GYEDC and developing the visual identity and brand guidelines was an amazing experience. Through great communication we were successful in executing a world-class mark, with unique and specific accents that highlight the best our Yuma region has. We truly believe this package will set the standard for brands in the Yuma area for years to come.”

Poised for Growth
Beyond its polished aesthetics, the new brand identity serves a practical purpose. It strengthens GYEDC’s ability to market Yuma as a business-friendly, opportunity-rich region to site selectors, government partners, and Fortune 500 companies. With a cohesive identity and a clear message, GYEDC is better positioned than ever to support economic growth in the Southwest Arizona region.
